🍋 Tart Lemon Bars with Buttery Pecan Crust

Sweet, tangy, buttery, and packed with toasted pecan flavor. These lemon bars have a soft, creamy citrus filling over a crisp, nutty crust, finished with a generous dusting of powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Pecan Crust

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup finely chopped pecans
  • ¼ tsp salt

Lemon Filling

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

For topping

  • Powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Add flour, pecans, and salt. Press evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust for 18–20 minutes, until lightly golden.
  4. Whisk eggs, sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and whisk again.
  5. Pour the lemon mixture over the warm crust.
  6. Bake for another 20–25 minutes, until the center is set with only a slight jiggle.
  7. Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour for cleaner slices.
  8. Cut into bars and dust generously with powdered sugar.

🍋 Tip: Fresh lemon juice gives these bars their bright tart flavor. Add a little extra zest if you love a stronger citrus bite.
