🍋 Tart Lemon Bars with Buttery Pecan Crust
Sweet, tangy, buttery, and packed with toasted pecan flavor. These lemon bars have a soft, creamy citrus filling over a crisp, nutty crust, finished with a generous dusting of powdered sugar.
Ingredients
Pecan Crust
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup finely chopped pecans
- ¼ tsp salt
Lemon Filling
- 4 large eggs
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp lemon zest
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
For topping
- Powdered sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mix butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Add flour, pecans, and salt. Press evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake the crust for 18–20 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Whisk eggs, sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and whisk again.
- Pour the lemon mixture over the warm crust.
- Bake for another 20–25 minutes, until the center is set with only a slight jiggle.
- Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour for cleaner slices.
- Cut into bars and dust generously with powdered sugar.
🍋 Tip: Fresh lemon juice gives these bars their bright tart flavor. Add a little extra zest if you love a stronger citrus bite.
